Proofreading, stylistic and technical editing of publications. Experienced editors and proofreaders for whom linguistic precision is a matter of professional responsibility.
The text that reaches the reader should be free of errors, stylistically consistent, and clear in its structure. This is not always the case – even with experienced authors. That is why every serious publication passes through the hands of an editor and proofreader before it is typeset and printed. In our team, we treat text editing as a craft as demanding as typographic design.
Proofreading covers orthography, punctuation, grammar, and typos. We work in accordance with current spelling rules and do not limit ourselves to mechanical checking. We also catch errors that no automatic proofreader will detect: syntactic calques, inconsistent spelling of proper names, and incorrect use of punctuation marks.
Stylistic editing goes deeper than proofreading: we improve syntax, eliminate repetitions, shorten verbose sentences, and unify the register and tone of the text. We make sure the text reads smoothly and every sentence serves a specific function in the narrative. Adjustment also includes unifying the spelling of dates, abbreviations, units, and nomenclature.
Technical editing prepares the text for typesetting: we unify the structure of chapters, the format of footnotes and references, bibliography style, and the numbering of tables and illustrations. This is the stage where the text gains the formal consistency necessary for proper DTP, while saving dozens of hours during the typesetting phase.
Academic texts have their own rules, from citation conventions to footnote formats and specialized terminology. We edit monographs, doctoral dissertations, peer-reviewed journal articles, and academic textbooks, knowing the requirements of academic publishers and journals.
A spelling mistake in an annual report, inconsistent terminology in an academic monograph, an awkward sentence in a corporate brochure. Each of these minor defects undermines the credibility of the author and the publisher. Text editing is not a luxury, but a necessary stage in publishing production that determines whether a publication will be perceived as professional.
The author is too close to their text to notice every awkwardness. The editor reads through the eyes of someone seeing the text for the first time – and that is exactly why they find what the author would search for in vain.
Our editors and proofreaders have years of publishing practice. They have worked with academic, literary, journalistic, and specialized texts, and know that each genre is governed by different rules, and editing a legal book requires a different sensitivity than editing a collection of reportage.
The following example shows a typical editorial intervention: shortening the text, removing nominal constructions and redundant pronouns, and changing passive voice to active. There are hundreds of such places in an average academic monograph of 300 pages – and each of them affects the readability and reception of the text.
As part of the implementation of the present project, which was initiated in the year 2019, the execution was performed of a survey research among a group of respondents numbering 340 individuals, which said research was aimed at the acquisition of data concerning reading preferences.
As part of the project started in 2019, a survey was conducted on a group of 340 respondents to learn their reading preferences.
We review a sample of the text, assessing its language condition, structure, and complexity. Based on this, we recommend the scope of work – from simple proofreading to full stylistic editing – and prepare a quote.
The editor works on the text using track changes. They correct errors, tidy up the syntax, and unify the style and terminology. Places requiring the author's decision are marked with comments.
The author receives the text with tracked changes and comments. They accept or reject corrections and answer the editor's questions. This stage ensures the text remains faithful to the author's intentions.
After incorporating the author's feedback, the proofreader makes a final pass: verifying the consistency of the whole, checking that no new errors have been introduced, and preparing the text for typesetting.
Text after good editing does not look corrected – it looks as if it had been written flawlessly from the start.
We edit texts of very different character and purpose: academic monographs and textbooks, industry and popular science books, corporate and sector reports, articles for academic journals, marketing materials, technical documentation, as well as literature – prose, reportage, and journalism. Each genre requires a different linguistic sensitivity, but the standard of diligence is always the same.
We cooperate with publishers, universities, companies, cultural institutions, and independent authors. If your text needs a professional eye before publication, send us a sample, and we will propose the optimal scope of editing.
In the age of artificial intelligence, more and more texts are created with the help of language models. Their authors are often unaware of how easily such a text can be recognized: repetitive sentence patterns, metaphors built mechanically around a single motif, even "density" of argumentation in every paragraph, and filler phrases like "it is worth noting" or "in this context." These are signals that a skilled editor and attentive reader will catch immediately. Below is an example of such a text and its edited version.
It is also worth noting that in this context the issue of transparency becomes particularly important. Artificial intelligence, although undoubtedly revolutionizing the way content is created, brings with it certain challenges, primarily regarding the authenticity of the message. That is exactly why it is so important that every text passes through the hands of an experienced editor.
Texts generated by AI sound correct, but predictable. The reader cannot always point out what exactly bothers them, but they feel something is off. The editor sees this immediately: mechanical connectors between sentences, the symmetrical construction of every paragraph, algorithmically chosen metaphors. After editing, the text regains its natural rhythm and the author's individual voice.
We offer editing for AI-generated texts: we remove stylistic schematicity, break up the predictable thesis–counterthesis–point structure, and replace buffer connectors with a natural train of thought. The result is a text that sounds as if it were written by a human, because it has passed through the hands of a human.

We know which questions to ask to arrive at distinctive and functional typographic solutions — for large corporations and small businesses alike, wherever the right typeface choice makes a measurable difference.
We support developers, especially front-end developers. We design and program responsive and interactive website typography along with accessibility principles. We create HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code compliant with specifications.
Using tools for content analysis, complex text pattern matching, and conditional transformation of styles and formats, we build systems that streamline the publication layout process and reduce both effort and turnaround time.
We provide Adobe Creative Cloud training for companies and institutions, combined with typography and design principles. We also conduct UX audits and expert usability analyses of online products and printed publications.
Proofreading concerns the linguistic correctness layer – orthography, punctuation, grammar, and typos. Editing goes deeper: it covers style, syntax, logical flow, terminology consistency, and text structure. Technical editing additionally focuses on footnotes, bibliography, numbering, and formatting.
Yes. We edit monographs, doctoral dissertations, articles for academic journals, and university textbooks. We are familiar with the editorial conventions of academic publishers and can unify footnote apparatus, bibliography, and specialized terminology.
The time depends on the volume, the condition of the text, and the scope of work. Proofreading a book of 200–300 pages usually takes 5–10 business days. Full stylistic editing of the same material takes two to three weeks. We provide a detailed deadline after reviewing a sample of the text.
Yes – we work with Track Changes enabled. Every correction is visible and can be accepted or rejected. We also attach comments with explanations in places where a decision requires consultation with the author.
We prefer receiving files in Word format (.docx). We also work with RTF files, Google Docs (with edit access), and InDesign – if the editing is to be done directly on typeset material.
The cost depends on the scope of work (proofreading, stylistic editing, technical editing), text volume, and its complexity. We prepare a free quote – usually within one business day – after reviewing a representative sample of the material.
